We welcome you to the Values for Impact – Ethical Finance, Innovation, and Sustainable Growth. We have prepared the guidelines for obtaining a visa to Bosnia and Herzegovina to assist you in your travel arrangements.

Do I need a visa?

Citizens of many countries can enter Bosnia and Herzegovina without a visa for short stayst. For example, citizens of Turkey, Malaysia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain do not need visas for a conference, as there is a visa-free regime with Bosnia and Herzegovina for up to a certain number of days or during the summer season, which starts in June.

Additionally, anyone with a valid Schengen or USA visa can enter Bosnia and Herzegovina without an additional Bosnian visa.

Citizens of Indonesia need a visa, but it is not difficult to obtain one.

Pakistani citizens need a visa and should work to obtain an invitation letter and visa on time. The invitation letter will be provided only to the academic staff of recognised universities in Pakistan.

How to apply for a visa

If your country requires a visa, please follow these steps:

  1. Determine your visa type
    short-stay visa is typically required for conference attendees.
  2. Contact the nearest embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina to ensure whether you need an invitation letter and what other documents you need.
  3. Prepare your documents
    Commonly required documents include:
    • A valid passport (valid for at least 90 days after your planned departure date)
    • A completed visa application form
    • Proof of conference registration (e.g., invitation letter or confirmation email)
    • Proof of accommodation (e.g., hotel booking confirmation)
    • Round-trip flight itinerary
    • Proof of sufficient financial means (e.g., bank statements)
    • Recent passport-sized photos (as per the embassy’s specifications)
  4. Submit your application
    Visit the nearest Embassy or Consulate of Bosnia and Herzegovina in your country. The list of embassies is on the link shared above.
  5. Processing time
    Visa processing can take from 7 working days to 50 working days (depending on the country you are applying from), so please apply well before your travel.

Travel tips

  • Plan your travel to arrive in Sarajevo at least one day before the conference begins.
  • Sarajevo International Airport (SJJ) is the main airport for international arrivals. IUS Campus is very close to the airport and nearby hotels that we recommend.
